All About My Only Father-13th November 2011 (Day 3)

Like the visiting hours suggested, we got there around noon starting to accompany him, ensuring that he has eaten and brought him for a smoke. Then let him take an afternoon nap while we get home to rest as well.
Dinner time we brought him downstairs to the kopitiam to have dinner with him. But he is still not eating a whole full portion by himself. My second sis and I bought yau tau foo and fish sliced soup as he likes to drink soup and so able to share with him. However, the soups are really CMI.
Soon, my eldest sister and her boyfriend came. They ate as well and then brought him for a smoke before we head back to his ward to catch the channel u's show again. At least there is something for him to look forward too.

All About My Only Father-12th November 2011 (Day 2)

At about 10 am, I was awake and went to look for my second sister-I slept in her house on Friday night. We had a small chat, discussing about all the possibilities and the measures to be taken. All the possibilities pose problems to our life and my exams as well. Problems include monetary and many more which we have not encountered before.
Then, a call came calling to my second sister. I did not know who called initially and what is the content about, then the content slowly revealed the story. It was the consultant of my dad's condition, called to briefly explain what was wrong with my dad saying there is something in his liver but he is unsure what the thing was and arranging a meet-up with him on Monday, 14th November 2011 late afternoon and more details would be filled in during the meet-up.
After the news, the thing we did not want most still popped up to us. Alot of things came into my mind, like the life we got to be adjusted to before he leaves, the monetary problems concerned with his condition etc. Inevitably, my sister and I broke into tears.
Then, my dad called me before my feelings were stabilized. But we all know that we did not want him to know what was the news about so fast and so I need to fake ignorance about it. I took a deep breathe before speaking to him. He asked me if the hospital called us to tell us anything. I posted the question back to him asking if they got tell you anything. then he said got staff came to see him telling him that he would be meeting the doctor on Monday. So immediatelty I replied 'Ya lor, they told me the same thing also." Heng lor. Need to stablizied my voice, my feelings and had to maintain my reaction was a tough thing to do! Even its only few minutes.
We unanimously feel that we need to hide the news from him so when we went to see him, we did not say anything and brought him for small walk, took dinner with him at downstairs kopitiam and brought him out for a smoke.
He was determined to walk by himself, showing preserverance to live. This is good. We even stayed till 9pm watching channel u's drama with him. The only thing that was unacceptable was the amount of food he is taking. He ate too little of the food given by the hospital. He complained tasteless of the food.

All About My Only Father-11th November 2011(Day 1)

Indeed, he only got his bed at about 3 or 4 am in the morning. Nevertheless, we now knew that he is really hospitalized now.
In the hospital, taking blood samples, going for x-ray etc are all very common to find out exactly what is wrong with a patient. But, he is so uncooperative that he shouted at the nurses for taking so much blood samples and why he is unable to take any food. This commotion prolonged until my second sister actually cabbed over from her workplace to TTSH to visit him.
At there, she pacified and explained to him and then he was more peaceful and understanding. According to my sister, the nurses felt relieved when they saw her as she was there to facilitate their things. One main reason for all these commotions is he could only converse in chinese, malay and dialects. talking to him in english will only pissed him off.
So at least in the afternoon he is taken care off. As for evening, my both sisters will visit him but I was deciding if I should go. I guessed i don't mind not going to visit him and sacrificed my volleyball session but there is this unwillingness to go. Luckily, at the first day of admission, vivitng hours are allowed to 12 midnight. So i went after my volleyball session.
Preliminary checks revealed that he has jaundice. We only heard janudice happening in babies and not adults. And he has already undergone 2 CT scans and some x ray. We were wondering how much all these would cost.
We chatted with him for a while and whatever he needed we have someone escorted to him and we called it a day for this date.

All About My Only Father

For the past 6 months, something has occured within my family which now then I am able to update here and to keep as many details in remembrance of my father.

It all started on the 10th November 2011, which was just like a normal weekday to all of us where we went home after work and school and gathered in the living room watching the dramas on tv relaxing. Then suddenly my dad said he wanted to go to the hospital. We were all shocked but at that instant, none of us want to accompany him to as we all know there would be quite a while of waiting time. In addition, we totally had no idea of what he is uncomfortable with and this is seriously too abrupt. At least he should let us know and we can think of what are the things to bring there etc. He just merely packed a few of his personal belongings and he went out. And, going there at about 9 to 10 pm would mean you will only get your bed in the middle of the night. It is better to go in the late afternoon or what so that sleeping timing will not be disturbed.
But as usual, he is too stubborn to listen to us so we let him to go by himself to Tan Tock Seng hospital (TTSH) as it is quite near to us. After he left, we were all actually deciding if we should go with him but as his daughters, we need to. In the end, my eldest sister and second bro-in-law went to the hospital at about 11 to 12 midnight after my second bro-in-law off from work. They also packed more things for him in case of confirmation of his stay there.
I didn't want to go as i think I already thought of my schedule for the next day and my exams are nearing. And at the start there is nothing much we can do also.
I finally have the time, energy and mood to sit down in front of the computer to update what has happened to me for the past 6 months. Some have known about it and some have not. For those who have not I will definately receive sms, whatsapp from you which only from now onwards I have the time to reply to your sms etc.

Just recovered from a stomach upset yesterday which has caused me to feel dizzy and nearly fainted. Lucky I hanged on and quickly dashed back to my bed and lied down. Needed to see doctor since 9am, the time the clinic opens but seriously restless and head feels very heavy. Dragged all the way till 11am, though still feel as restless but my sisters and mum all asked me to see doctor and no one was at home, I prayed I won't feel that dizzy anymore and able to be safe back at home after seeing the doctor.

Managed to be back home, felt restless again and went back to sleep again. Forced myself to wake up to take medicine telling myself now that medicine is there, take it and have some food and I will definately feel better after taking it. Checked my phone after taking lunch and medicine and my sister and mum called. My second sis cabbed back home to check that I am safe! So touched by her gesture. She went back because she has broke the cup I gave her accidentally. So supertitously, she thought I may have fainted at home. And she has heard of a case which a lady slept at home and just passed away. So all these made her to rush back home to check on me during her short 1 hour lunch time.

Felt much better today though my head still hurts. Need to see chinese doctor once I have the time.
