So after his discharge from the hospital, his routine was like visiting the chinese physicians (one at grange road, one at toa payoh and one at polyclinic), go out buy 4D, la kopi at coffeeshops, go around looking for nice foods, markets and other stuff that we do not know.
He introduced a market to us and brought us there on one of the days. The market is Sims Avenue Market. The food that is really cheap! Food like you can find S$2 to fill your stomach. Really worth it. My sisters and I were all very happy to have dined there. :)
Another thing he did was to go back hospital for check-ups. When I have the time I would bring him there and my eldest sister will come after lunch hour; she would take half day off to join him for the check-ups. My second bro-in-law also took him to visit doctors at times. So I can say everyone of us did their best to help him in whatever ways we can.
Going back check-ups in the hospital, we need to make sure he has eaten something if he were to do blood tests. He has become very sensitive about the blood tests as they are taking HIS blood ever since his stay in the hospital for a month. He was also a bit of unwillingly to go back hospital for check-ups. But we always persuade him to go.
Since he had cancer and an untreatable one, the hospital has arranged him to undergo chemotherapy. My eldest sister and I were with him for the visit with the oncologist. The oncologist was very positive and encouraged him to undergo chemo. He even set an earliest date for my dad to start the chemo treatment. However, we have not consulted him if he wants to do it.
On the same day after the visit with the oncologist, we talked to him about the chemotherapy and he did not give any response. Then my eldest sister mentioned that not all the people who undergo chemotherapy will have their life extended. She heard of one case where the patient passed away after receiving the chemotherapy for 2 weeks. Upon hearing this, we were more into the direction of not subjecting him to do the chemo, especially the effects of it like nausea, vomiting and dropping of hair.
Because we know that my dad wouldn't want to undergo all these sufferings just to extend his life. To me, he was receiving chinese medicinal treatment so its a form of chemotherapy. But ultimately he still rejected to go under chemotherapy.
